Standard Description of the Japanese Hoso

Type ( 25 points )

Narrow, cylindrical body. Frilled feathering not allowed.

Position and Carriage ( 20 points )

In the shape of a half moon, with thights just visible, legs slightly angled. Jaunty carriage with plenty of action.

Size ( 20 points )

Maximum 11.5cm.

Shoulders and Back ( 15 points )

Shoulders set high, narrow and well rounded, showing no depression between the wing butts. Back and body well rounded, to form an arch.

Head ( 5 points )

Small, oval and snake-like.

Neck ( 5 points )

Long and slim.

Tail ( 5 points )

Narrow and curving inwards as much as possible under the perch. Slightly open at tips.

Condition ( 5 points )

Clean and healthy. All colours are allowed. Close fitting feathering.
